What do you expect of a collaborative network on quinoa?
The network should bring breeder, farmer, food manufacturer, and retailer together, so that they would understand the needs and concerns of each other, and eventually provide the best quinoa to consumer and benefit everyone who work on quinoa.
What degree of interest do you have in professional networks?
I'm very interested in professional networks. It is significant to borrow experience from other scientists and labs. Collaborating would make more excellent and significant work.
What suggestions would you make for the future development of the quinoa network?
Quinoa work should reach to food companies such as ConAgra, Cargill, Red Bob's Mill, etc. They would know better how to sell more quinoa to consumer -- More farmers will want to grow quinoa if they know where to sell them in a good price.
Additionally, seed processing expertise (clean, remove saponins) are needed.

What do you expect of a collaborative network on quinoa?
The collaboration is one fine mean in the emerging scientific arena to progress. The ideology, avenues, style and dimensions all are unique when considered from individual to individual. Quinoa is emerging as one of the most emphasized crops in the world due to hyper appraisal in the form of international year activities by UN during 2013. The versatility of this crop for being resilient, balanced diet and cash crop in the present food scene across the globe attract people to eliminate food scarcity, hunger and malnutrition from the affected areas. This network is therefore seen as a potential umbrella for research, training, consultation and outreach in the days to come.
What degree of interest do you have in professional networks?
Collaboration and facilitation for the others is the backbone of progress in the 21st century and I have a strong belief on it.
What suggestions would you make for the future development of the quinoa network?
In majority of the countries of the world, quinoa is not known. A big outreach should be executed on regional basis utilizing the FAO regional and subregional centres and through involving funding/donor agencies. A campaign should be launched on promoting the local recipes in the already targeted areas across the globe.
Promotion of research of quinoa must be strengthen through TCP in the new regions as well as through medium to large size projects in the areas of successful introduction. Most of the workshops/seminars/ symposia should be focused in the new areas of successful quinoa introduction.

What do you expect of a collaborative network on quinoa?
Me interesa muchísimo participar en la red de colaboración de quinoa ya que trabajo con el transito a la producción de alimentos en Antofagasta de la Sierra, en el Noroeste de Argentina, un desierto de altura por encima de los 3500 msnm. Al respecto, cuento con evidencias tempranas de quinoa en el registro arqueológico local, desde unos 3500años atrás.
En estos momentos estoy colaborando con diferentes especialistas en quinoa (Daniel Bertero, Pilar Babot, Thierry Winkel) en función de los sitios con quinoa temprana que estoy trabajando.
Asimismo, estoy trabajando ahce un tiempo ya con una serie de instrumentos tallados especializados en la cosecha de la quinoa, usados hace unos 1500 años atrás, por lo que entender y profundizar en el conocimiento de la cosecha y postcosecha de la quinoa es vital para mi. Participar de la red sería muy positivo para mi, ya que de esta forma podría contactar e interactuar con investigadores y especialistas sobre quinoa.

What do you expect of a collaborative network on quinoa?
We have studied quinoa cultivation and seed production in Finland since 1998, and commercial production started in 2009. We would need to get access and research new germplasm/accession of quinoa, suitable for Nordic growth conditions. Also experience on different cropping systems (rotation, mixed) and diseases are needed.
